Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer/Vice President of Finance & Administration serves as the institutional CFO and a key member of the President's Cabinet, providing strategic fiscal administration and leadership to Southern Utah University. In this role, the executive advises the University President on all financial administration matters including the oversight of a $300+ million budget, investment management, capital facility planning, and executive leadership over comprehensive administrative, technology, and human resource operations.The position also champions entrepreneurial strategies and auxiliary operations that diversify revenue streams and support institutional growth.

Essential Functions
- Oversee Accounting Services, Planning, Budget, and Business Analytics operations. Manage complex functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashier services, payroll, and fixed assets. Direct grant accounting, annual internal/external financial statements, and institutional audits to ensure compliance and institutional integrity.
- Provide strategic executive oversight for diverse campus service areas: Information Technology, Human Resources, Internal Audit, and Business Services & Auxiliaries including Purchasing, Receiving, Dining Services, the University Bookstore, and Postal Operations.
- Conduct high-level financial analysis of university-wide programs, institutional operations, and individual departmental budgets. Manage the investment portfolio for institutional and endowment funds, while driving capital acquisition, financing strategies, and the issuance of revenue bonds.

- Serve active roles on internal committees, including the President's Cabinet, President's Leadership Council, Risk Management Committee, Compensation Council, Financial Aid Fraud Committee, Healthcare Management Committee, and Retirement Committee
- Represent SUU on external boards, strategic committees, and at various community partner events to champion the university's regional and financial interests.

Education & Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate degree- Master's or doctoral degree in accounting, public administration, human resources, or other related field preferred.
- Seven years of progressive experience in Higher Education administration or other executive-level experience.
- Experience in Cash and Investment Management and Federal Grant and Contract Management.
- Proven proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and preparation of financial statements.
- Supervisory and management experience.
- Strong financial analytical and communication skills. Good verbal and written communication skills.
- PC applications expertise- spreadsheets, word processing, Google platform, Banner, and presentations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of Federal taxation of Not-for-profit organizations
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
