Help Shape the Financial Future of One of the Nation's Leading Academic Health Philanthropy Organizations
In partnership with Lindauer, UNC Health Foundation seeks a strategic and collaborative Chief Financial Officer to provide executive leadership for the Foundation's financial operations, investment strategy, endowment stewardship, governance, and risk management. Reporting directly to the President of UNC Health Foundation, this highly visible leader will partner with senior leadership, trustees, and stakeholders across UNC Health and the UNC School of Medicine to strengthen the Foundation's financial position while advancing philanthropy that transforms healthcare across North Carolina and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, treasury, investments, endowment management, compliance, audit, and risk management.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the President and Board of Directors, supporting governance, financial planning, and long-term organizational strategy.
- Oversee the Foundation's investment portfolio and relationships with external investment managers while ensuring strong stewardship of philanthropic assets.
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance team while fostering collaboration across the Foundation, UNC Health, the UNC School of Medicine, and University partners.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, donor intent, investment policies, and best practices in nonprofit financial management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; CPA strongly preferred or equivalent executive financial leadership experience.
- Twelve or more years of progressive financial leadership experience, including at least ten years managing finance functions within a nonprofit organization, foundation, academic institution, or healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in nonprofit accounting, investments, endowment management, financial strategy, and board governance.
- Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across complex organizations.
- High integrity, sound judgment, strategic thinking, and a commitment to advancing mission-driven organizations through strong financial stewardship.
