The Business Affairs Officer (BAO) is responsible for providing leadership in financial planning and management, accounting and business services and oversight of facilities, risk management, and Campus Safety. This position represents the College’s interest in the Community College System of NH’s centralized finance model. Serves as a member of the Cabinet and advises the President on all financial matters. This position offers a hybrid remote work option.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for strategic planning, master planning, fiscal management, policy setting, and operational oversight of assigned departments..
• Leads the College’s budgeting process, including working with faculty and staff in budget planning, development, and monitoring.
• Directs the College’s business operations and administrative services including accounting, operational and capital budgeting, campus safety, physical plant/facilities and auxiliary services.
• Manages all accounting and business operations including purchasing, inventory management, bursar, accounts payables, and contracts.
• Works collaboratively with the VP of Academic and Student Affairs to oversee all initiatives and activities concerning Risk Management.
• Works with the President to prepare long-range financial models and develop financial strategies to achieve the strategic goals and priorities of the College. Participates in the planning, financing, and implementation of the College’s campus master plan.
• Performs accounting functions and maintains the accounting system and internal controls of income and expenditures and prepares accurate and regular financial reports for College use
• Develops and implements standard accounting policies and procedures for business operations to ensure compliance with regulatory and generally accepted accounting rules and practices.
• Manages departmental human resources activities, in conjunction with Human Resources Coordinator.
• Works collaboratively with the Cabinet and college community to provide leadership, policy direction, and financial management.
• Serves on various campus and System committees and groups.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the President.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university in finance, accounting, business administration, or public administration. Master’s degree in accounting or business administration desired.
Experience: Eight years of experience in fiscal management, including supervisory or administrative. Experience in education, government, or not-for-profit environment desired with higher education experience preferred.
License/Certifications: Valid drivers’ license or access to transportation.
Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of financial and accounting theories, principles, and techniques. Ability to compile, analyze, interpret, report, and present financial data. Ability to identify, resolve, and consult on a wide range of fiscal, administrative, and personnel issues while focusing on institutional needs and priorities. Administrative experience in a collective bargaining environment. Proficient use of technology including Work, Excel, PowerPoint, and other accounting software. Effective organizational, administrative, project management, and problem-solving skills. Ability to express ideas and information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to foster collaborative and effective working relationships with diverse populations and multiple constituents. Ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment in the performance of duties, and maintain confidentiality. Project management skills include the ability to define projects, prioritize and manage multiple projects, measure and evaluate progress and outcomes, and meet timelines while producing quality work. Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, recommend and implement solutions in a timely fashion. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by management.
