Description

“To prepare students for lives of learning, leadership, and service.”

The mission of Centre College is simple and clear, yet inspirational and highly relevant in the highly complex and interconnected world we live in: Centre College graduates will have the intellectual knowledge, applied experience, and professional competencies to excel in their education and their careers, lead lives of meaning and purpose, and positively impact their communities. With this vision in mind, and in an environment of the changing landscape of higher education, there is a renewed emphasis on the importance of a robust liberal arts education focused on innovation, change, problem solving, and creating impact.

Under the leadership of President Milton C. Moreland, and together with the senior leadership, Centre College is implementing a bold new strategic plan focused on the student experience and a path for the future. The plan focuses on three central tenets:

1.       Experiential Learning and Community Engagement

2.       Career Readiness

3.       Community Wellness

The next Vice President, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and Treasurer will join Centre College at an exciting time, and as a member of senior leadership, they will play a critical role in realizing the bold ambitions that the institution has for its future and in the continued development and execution of the strategic plan moving forward.

The CFO serves as a critical strategic partner and trusted adviser to the president, his senior leadership team, and the Centre College Board of Trustees. The CFO is the chief financial and business and administrative officer of the college and provides guidance and leadership to ensure the efficient and effective stewardship of the college's financial and physical resources. This individual oversees all finance functions, including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, long-range financial planning, investment management, liability management, and risk management. The CFO is also responsible for facilities. They will play a vital role in executing the college’s strategic plan, supporting the development of future strategic priorities, and ensuring a collaborative, productive relationship with the rest of the administrative functions and the faculty.

As a key institutional leader, the CFO will encourage bold thinking, bring wise counsel, and be attracted to the opportunity to join an organization with a clear, compelling mission. With high EQ and strong analytical and problem-solving skills, they will be committed to the continuous evolution of a first-class finance function, invested in the professional development and growth of their team, and will embrace the opportunity to forge strong, supportive relationships across the college and with the broader Danville community.
