Senior Associate Athletic Director for Finance (Saluki Athletics CFO)

Reporting directly to the Athletic Director and serving as a member of the AD’s leadership team, the CFO will serve as the financial manager for Saluki Athletics by tracking and creating accurate and timely reports for the AD, university, NCAA, MVC and other units who hold a position of governance or oversight on Saluki Athletic and ensures the timely processing of business processes regarding purchasing, travel and personnel matters.
Leadership of and oversight for a) the business office including budget management, procurement, human resources efforts; b) capital projects and related financing matters c.) information technology d.) sports equipment and apparel e.) team travel operations and f.) other units and areas as assigned.
Serve as a trusted senior advisor to Director of Athletics and the Saluki athletics leadership team regarding the financial operations of the department and other areas of oversight.
Serve as a sport administrator for assigned sports programs; supervise and partner with head coaches to help advance towards achievement of team and departmental goals; support academic, competitive, and personal development goals of student-athletes.
Oversight for athletics operating, scholarship, and capital debt budgets, including annual financial planning and routine account monitoring.
Monitor all sport and support unit budgets; meet routinely with coaches and other leadership team members; maintain accurate financial records; ensure timely submission of required documents and run reports as needed; ensure reconciliation of P-Card transactions;
Management of all department contractual agreements, including athletic contests, facility rentals, contractors, and others such items.
Develop and implement departmental business policies and procedures in accordance with applicable university, system, Conference, NCAA and related policies; ensure timely and compliant invoicing, payment, contract administration, and related business functions.
Collaborate with University Budget Office on preparation and submission of athletics budget materials during annual budget process and ongoing financial matters.
Prepare and submit routine and annual reporting requirements (e.g. NCAA Financial Report, EADA Report, Clery Act, FOIA, etc.) to the university, the SIU system office, State of Illinois, Missouri Valley Conference, NCAA and other oversight or governing entities.
Prepare and deliver budget and financial presentations to university and athletics staff and other internal and external stakeholders, as requested.
Provide financial and budget reports as requested by the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance (VCAF) and participate in regular budget meetings with the VCAF to discuss the financial status of Saluki athletics.
Liaison to various committees, working groups and task forces related to athletics..
Deliver exceptional customer assistance to athletics staff and student-athletes, campus and community constituents, and external clients and partners.
Adhere to all NCAA, Missouri Valley Conference, and university policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures.
Represent the university with professionalism, dignity, integrity, and ethical conduct.
Perform other related departmental duties, as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree and five or more years of experience in business, accounting, finance or related fields.
