The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
With general guidance and supervision: assess risk exposures, internal contro;s, and evaluate operations and activities along a wide variety of the university's governance, including information systems and technology. Conduct audits, and consultative reviews, special projects and investigations as assigned. Develop appropriate scope, objectives, and procedures, documentating results of audit work performed to support audit findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Audit work is conducted in accordance with professional auditing standards.

Thorough knowledge of accounting theory and systems accounting.
Ability to assess and evaluate Information Technology (hardware and software) used throughout the university.
Working knowledge of programming and specialized report generation or data retrieval languages.
Thorough knowledge and skill in applying the Principles of Generally Accepted uditing Standards.
Thorough knowledge of the International Professional Practices Framework of Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics developed by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Ability to research and understand laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to the audit work being conducted.
Skill in collecting and analyzing complex data, evaluating information and systems, and drawing logical conclusions.
Skill in planning and project management, and in maintaining composure under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines.
Ability to negotiate issues and resolve problems.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Acces, and SharePoint and experience in using Tableau, IDEA, or other computer aided audit tools.

Bachelor's degree in accounting, or a disipline related to the program area assigned and two years of related experience; or Bachelor's degree in any field and certification/licensure as a certified public accountant, certified internal auditor, certifed fraud examiner, certified information system auditor or related certification or licensure and two years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in accounting or a disciple related to the program area assigned and one to two years of related experience. Prior experience working in higher education. Knowledge of SQL and Banner.
