New College currently invites applications for the position of Business Manager.
This position is essential to the successful management, coordination and execution of the Division of Student Affairs’ operational responsibilities. It will support business functions that advance procedures and staff within the Division of Student Affairs including: Residence Life and Dining Services, Student Activities and Campus Engagement, Advocacy and Accessible Learning Center, Student Success and Orientation, Transitions and Family Programs, the Counseling and Wellness Center, Equal Opportunity Programs, Fitness Center, Recreation, Waterfront, Health Education, Student Government and Community Education and Standards.
The Business Manager is a professional who is responsible for leading and supervising employees to ensure efficiency of operations and providing direction on how best to handle different tasks while maintaining customer satisfaction. The Business Manager helps implement strategies that help generate revenue or profitability. The Business Manager serves as one of the Fiscal Liaisons for the Division of Student Affairs and is responsible for supporting Division operations.
Specific Responsibilities for the position include:
Developing business management goals and objectives that lead to financial and business growth and assessing organizational performance against the objectives.
Designing and implementing business plans, forecasts, plans and strategies to promote the attainment of goals.
Supervising the work of employees and providing feedback and counsel to improve both efficiency and effectiveness.
Maintaining relationships with internal and external partners/vendors/suppliers.
Gathering, analyzing and interpreting internal and external data and writing reports.
Monitoring E&G budgets and expenditures for staff and student employees. This includes monitoring Foundation funds through the Vice President of Students Affairs Office.
Reconciling budgets on a monthly basis and assisting in all facets of payroll..
Providing Human Resources support in areas such as recruiting and onboarding, hiring/terminating and timekeeping/recordkeeping.
Providing support to Housing and Food Service including the maintenance of housing assignments and room charges.
Handling all travel arrangements as needed.
Ensuring adherence to all applicable rules and regulations, guidelines and New College policies.
Functioning as a backup for other administrative staff in the Student Affairs Division when needed.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Additional Information:
Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills is required.
Knowledge of MS Office (Excel and Word), Banner, Argos, Google Docs and SimpleHire (Applicant Tracking System). The individual will work with databases as well as budgeting, forecasting and other information systems.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years appropriate experience or a high school diploma/equivalent and eight years of appropriate experience. A combination of post-high school education and experience equal to six years in finance accounting, and/or human resources may also be considered. Prior budget management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in a related field and 2 years appropriate experience or a Bachelor’s degree and four years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Experience in a post-secondary academic setting.
