We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. Financial Analyst-Capital Accounting.
In this role, the successful candidate as a Senior Financial Analyst will support various Capital Accounting General Ledger activities for NYU Langone Health, including annual audit reporting, annual budgeting process, monthly reporting, and analysis and forecasting. The Senior Financial Analyst is expected to add value by creating executive quality management presentations, dashboards & metrics, identifying and driving business analysis, providing decision support analysis to be used by management to facilitate informed decisions, and to generate valuable insights and transparency around all areas of the business. The Senior Financial Analyst will also build and enhance processes and controls across finance and related accounting supporting systems. In addition, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial results and consistency with corporate and business unit accounting policies and procedures, and identifying and communicating risks and opportunities. This position will report into the Assistant Director of Finance (Capital Accounting and Asset Management) and the Director of Financial Services
Job Responsibilities:
Support the daily operations of Capital Financial Reporting and Asset Management activities.
Process month-end Financial close account reconciliations and analyses. Prepare standard and adjusting journal entries, and maintain financial statement accounts as part of monthly close.
Perform analytical review of various sections of the financial statements and provide explanations for trends and significant variances.
Support various general ledger activities for NYU Langone Health, including assisting with the annual statements and footnotes for the audit, annual budgeting process, monthly reporting, and analysis and forecasting
Assists with the development of written processes and procedures.
Prepare and maintain monthly Capital expenditure reports and roll forwards.
Prepare and Maintain monthly Depreciation Executive Summary and quarterly forecast.
Learn how to operate and maintain the Medical Center’s Fixed Asset tracking database called PeopleSoft Asset Management
Reconcile the Fixed Asset Module with the General Ledger, and coordinates any variances with the Fixed Asset Accounting staff.
Work with other stakeholders to analyze, track Capital expenditures and place Construction projects in service.
Alteryx training, subject matter expert of entire enterprise.
Ad hoc special projects as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and knowledge of general accepting accounting principles;
A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of accounting experience. Must have a sound understanding of accounting and/or finance and a general understanding of the healthcare and/or higher-ed industry in order to effectively carry out the responsibilities of the position.
Working knowledge of general ledger, journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month end.
Excellent analytical skills combined with a strong attention to detail and the ability to present complex information in a usable format to a diverse audience.
Ability to interpret and apply finance and accounting policies, practices, and systems.
Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Strong planning, organization, customer service, and written/verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams.
Strong work ethic, with ability to work extended hours as required.
Must become and remain proficient in all programs necessary to perform the duties and responsibilities for this role including an advanced understanding of Excel with functionality such as pivot table and v-lookup and Microsoft Word.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA license or working towards a CPA and public accounting background is preferred.
Not-for-profit, healthcare or higher-ed industry experience is preferred.
Proficient computer skills to support the General Accounting Department of NYU
Langone Health Systems.
