Assist in preparing the financial statements and footnotes, including compiling information within the notes and researching new required disclosures.
Prepare and maintain the quarterly and yearend consolidating trial balance/workbook for the University.
Assist with the annual financial statement audit, including preparing schedules, footnotes, and assist with the consolidation of the financial information.
Assist with management of the quarterly close process and reporting for the University.
Responsible for maintaining reconciliations of key general ledger accounts
Assist the Budget department with quarterly and annual projections, as well as ad hoc requests.
Prepare and record monthly, quarterly and year end journal entries.
Review and approve department and cross-campus journal entries.
Prepare external and internal ad-hoc financial reports.
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of financial and accounting policies, procedures and systems of internal control.
Review and approve cross campus requisitions.
MMARS Responsibilities – Centralized for the University:
Supervise staff responsible for MMARS transactions, including reviewing and approving journal entries and reconciliations performed.
Assist in the creation and management of Interdepartmental Service Agreements (ISAs) for capital and special appropriations
Review and approve fringe payments in MMARS and reconciliations.
Serve as MMARS liaison with all campuses.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
Minimum of 5 years of industry knowledge/experience
Experience using PeopleSoft Financial and HR Systems.
Working experience with Massachusetts Management Accounting System (MMARS).
Financial experience within a large public higher education institution.
Other related duties as assigned
Must be able to travel occasionally to all UMass campuses.
Typical office environment.
May require occasional hours on nights and weekends.
Hybrid schedule which requires a minimum of two days per week in the office.
Salary commensurate with experience up to $90,000.
