The Senior Grants Accountant supports functions of the College, including the input, review and reconciliation of accounting data, documentation of accounting processes, and maintenance of internal controls. This position assists in the maintenance and efficient use of financial systems and in developing and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures established to safeguard College assets. The Senior Grants Accountant provides billing and reporting services to internal and external customers, as well as ensuring compliance with restricted fund grants, contract agreements and general fund accounting.
The Senior Grants Accountant reviews and interprets Federal regulations, OMB Circulars, State of Colorado Fiscal Rules, Colorado Community College System regulations, grant agreements and other applicable regulations and guidelines. This position is responsible for restricted fund grants and contract accounting for specific federal, state, local, and privately funded grants, and contracts. Must provide billing and reporting services, as well as ensure compliance with grant and contract agreements and the Colorado Community College Foundation office. This position must maintain accurate and timely financial reporting of all transactions in compliance with relevant accounting, state and federal laws and guidelines, and internal district policies and to assist in other required reporting, budget preparation, and analysis. This position works closely with the Assistant Controller and provides leadership for Staff Accountants.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent accounting experience. An equivalency will not count towards the three-year requirement below.
Three years of progressive professional experience in financial accounting.
Working knowledge and experience with computerized financial systems and related subsystems.
Demonstrated knowledge of current Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Banner or other information system.
Two years’ grant management experience including preparing and/or reviewing federal and state grant reporting and billing, or federal government contract accounting.
Related experience in a higher education setting.
Experience utilizing CORE financial system.
Knowledge of State of Colorado fiscal rules.
Knowledge of accounting and purchasing practices.
Excellent Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills and ability to learn proprietary software. Excel spreadsheet development that includes working with formulas and pivots with a financial emphasis.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals at all levels of an organization.

Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Salary Range
Salary range for this position is $63,393 to $71,000, commensurate with education and experience. AP 3-45 provides information regarding salary placement and adjustments. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.

Arapahoe Community College, founded in 1965 as Arapahoe Junior College, was the first 2-year college in the greater Denver metro area. The college grew out of a grassroots effort by Littleton residents who wanted to provide post-high school education in the area.
