We are currently seeking a Director, Grants Finance Reporting and Compliance at our Valhalla, NY (Westchester County) Office.
This is a key position which oversees all financial reporting and compliance for federal, state, local, and private funded grants of the University. Responsibilities include supervising a team of professional staff in coordinating related day-to-day responsibilities; creating, maintaining, and continuously evaluating the effectiveness of policies and procedures related to compliance activities; and for conducting training sessions and serving as an advisor to business managers and faculty regarding compliance issues. The Director proactively works to prevent and resolve compliance-related issues in collaboration with a variety of external and internal contacts, including administrative officials, other staff in the Finance department, and the offices of the Provost and Associate Provost for Research.
Manages all financial reporting and compliance for federal, state, local, and private funded grants of the University.
Sets up new accounts, informs Business Managers and Principal Investigators of awards, reviews terms and conditions, and monitors budget.
Reviews and signs-off on grant invoices, draws down funds electronically from online sources, analyzes account balances, and prepares financial reports as required.
Plays a key role in the annual Single Audit process including preparation of all relevant schedules.
Manages issuance of Effort Certification Reports.
Drafts Cost Reimbursement Research Subaward Agreements and files FFATA reports as needed.
Oversees sponsored program compliance activities and serve as primary liaison for all compliance-related issues.
Identifies, develops, and implements new and/or updated policies and procedures related to compliance activities, and monitors their effectiveness to ensure operational needs are met.
Conducts training sessions and provide mentoring and counseling services to business managers and faculty regarding compliance issues.
Consults with administrative officials about compliance-related issues and determines a course of action that addresses/resolves problems and concerns.
Develops ongoing training programs to provide information to departments throughout campus that enhances overall knowledge about compliance-related issues.
Collaborates with the Office of the Provost and Associate Provost for Research (pre-award) to ensure effective coordination and service from pre-award through post-award accounting and internal and external reporting.
Partners with the research community to resolve outstanding compliance issues and identify effective strategies to eliminate future occurrences of similar problems.
Prepares all necessary internal management reports and external reports to granting agencies.
The ideal candidates will possess the following:
Bachelor’s degree required (in accounting, preferred). Master’s preferred in Business, Finance or Accounting.
A minimum of 7 years of related and progressively responsible experience is required, including direct experience with grant compliance and management accounting.
Must have an intricate knowledge and understanding of federal, state, and local regulations, including but not limited to: Uniform Guidance.
Experience with Subrecipient Monitoring, Effort Reporting Policies and Procedures. Knowledge of excel, Banner Financial Systems a plus.
Must be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
Must be able to work under pressure and simultaneously manage numerous deadlines.
Other desirable qualifications include an understanding about research administration processes.
