Gettysburg College, in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, is seeking an experienced professional for a full-time position as the Director of Risk Management/Environmental Health and Safety. Gettysburg is an undergraduate liberal arts and sciences college, which enrolls approximately 2,600 primarily residential students. Reporting to the Vice President for Finance and Administration with indirect reporting responsibility to the Ethics and Integrity Officer, this position is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the enterprise risk management, insurance risk management, and environmental health and safety functions of the College.  This position works closely with the Ethic and Integrity Officer to assure compliance with federal and state regulations, and conducts policy review and development in the areas of risk management, loss prevention, and environmental health and safety.  Additionally, the position serves collaboratively as a resource for senior leadership, academic and administrative departments throughout the College, and supports efforts to recognize and respond to identified risks, and to monitor for emerging risks.

The Director is a 12-month, full-time administrative appointment. Salary and title are commensurate with experience and complemented by an excellent benefits package.

A Bachelor’s degree is required along with five to seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in the administration of risk management and insurance, including experience with principles of enterprise risk management, environmental health and safety and insurance. Professional certification such as CIH, CSP, or ARM is preferred; OSHA Safety and Health Fundamental Certification is highly desired. Must have working knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations, and consensus standards including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, and DEP.  The successful candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively yet independently; communicate with discretion, tact and professionalism on sensitive and confidential matters, achieve mastery of complex substantive areas through individual effort and study; work timely and effectively on matters requiring independent judgement; exercise initiative in carrying our assigned projects; work harmoniously with a variety of individuals; and write and speak well.  Must have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues and community members.
