The Student Core Functional Lead is primarily responsible for leading efforts to assess the university’s current student information system’s data structures, functionalities, and processes to ascertain needs in anticipation of the start of the Workday Student implementation. The incumbent will then transition into the role of Student Core Architect for the duration of the Workday Student implementation. This position will play a critical role in informing and leading the design of the Student Workday platform for UMD. The incumbent will, therefore, have significant interaction with the university’s recruitment and admissions, academic, student records, student financials and student financial aid, and systems’ management stakeholders. With the direct supervision of the Assistant VP/ERP, and under the general direction of the Associate Provost for ERP and the Associate VP/Enrollment Management, the incumbent will lead and oversee all readiness activities for the planned Student ERP implementation. In preparation for the Student ERP project, and while the implementation of Workday HCM, Financials, and Adaptive Planning is ongoing, the incumbent will work with stakeholders to ascertain system capabilities that would best serve UMD students, faculty, and staff, and will advise on any needs for business process improvements in the university’s student processes and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of ten (10+) years’ experience with Student Information Systems, Student business processes, and Student life cycle
7 years of Advanced knowledge of Student modules (e.g., Recruiting & Admissions, Records, Registration, Course and Classroom Scheduling, Transfer and Articulation, Curriculum Management, Advising, Student Financials, and/or Financial Aid)
Supervisory experience
Experience with Student support, problem identification, and resolution
Expertise with office productivity applications such as Google Workspace or Microsoft Office

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Demonstrated ability to coordinate a high level of activity under various conditions and constraints
Ability to work as part of a team and with members of other functional/technical teams to identify action items, team member responsibilities, etc.
Ability to understand possible impacts to changes to a highly integrated system, determine the depth/breadth of testing necessary to minimize risk of system changes, execute and record results of testing (including data staging), etc.
Analytical abilities, critical thinking, and problem-solving competencies to support non-standard, unique problem resolution
Knowledge of Student life cycle regulatory requirements and current business challenges appropriate to area of responsibility
Exceptional interpersonal skills, including relationship and conflict management.

Preferences

Workday experience or extensive UMD Student life cycle/enterprise experience
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Experience with large-scale, cross-functional technology implementations
