Under general supervision, the Risk Analyst will work on occupational and non-occupational risk management programs to include providing administrative support, claims intake, investigation, and analysis for Risk Management. The position will assist in the administration of claims management activities to include General, Auto, Property, EPL, Professional Liability and Workers Compensation. The Risk Analyst will support the strategic planning and programmatic analysis of the entire Risk Management unit, including identifying programs supporting UCR's legal and technical compliance. They will interface at all levels within the organization and will serve in committees as a representative of the Risk Management team during UC System-wide training, conferences, events, etc. The salary is commensurate with experience. ***As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. Key Responsibilities Description% Time Administers highly complex claims/lawsuits, and monitors payments in casualty, employee injury and/or property insurance programs. Coordinates attorneys, third party administrators and departments to resolve assigned claims.
•Identifies critical areas of legal and technical compliance, helps to develop management interventions and strategic initiatives to improve overall program financial and claims management performance (i.e. OSHA Compliance; Litigation Strategy). Attend/ participate in depositions; mediations; legal strategy; trial preparation.20 Administers all claims for general liability, auto and property damage. Liaises with third parties and claimants to resolve claims, in accordance with organization guidelines, in a timely manner.

Responsible for claim setup and entry, strategic planning, and programmatic analysis.20 Develops, implements, and administers risk management insured and self-insured programs and operations with respect to insurance claims administration, contracts, and loss prevention.
•Performs increasingly complex data analysis and makes recommendations for changes to risk management programs, initiatives, policies and procedures.15 Analyzes complex loss areas, Interprets insurance and indemnification provisions for contracts, agreements, leases, et cetera to ensure organization is not assuming third party liability for which it has no insurance coverage.
•Evaluates and determines contractual/ agreement insurance requirements and indemnification language (i.e. Certificates of Insurance). Determines appropriateness of insurance and event waivers (i.e. Performance Agreement Waivers).15 Maintains underwriting data, prepares specifications for broker or underwriter bids, evaluates bids, and recommends or concludes insurance contracts.5 Gathers, analyzes, prepares, and summarizes areas of potential loss; recommends appropriate type and level of loss protection to be implemented.5 Prepares specifications for broker or underwriter bids, evaluates bids, and recommends or concludes insurance contracts.5 Performs complex accounting and risk finance related to the monitoring of risk control strategies and programs.
