| University of Utah is seeking an experienced, strategic and collaborative leader to serve as its next Controller. Located in Salt Lake City, the University of Utah is the state's flagship institution of higher learning and a major teaching and research university. The U offers 72 undergraduate major programs and more than 90 major fields of study at the graduate level. Forbes recently ranked the University of Utah as one of America’s best employers and U.S. News & World Report ranked it as one of the best national universities. The Controller has campus-wide responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and maintenance of the University financial records. The areas reporting to the Controller provide services, consultation and training to the campus community as a whole including faculty, staff, and students. The Controller collaborates with various campus financial stakeholders; including University of Utah Health. The Controller is responsible for financial operations that include accounts payable, tax services, general accounting and income accounting. The Controller is a member of the Associate Vice President of Financial Services’ leadership team and plays a key strategic and advisory role. The Controller will build and maintain strong working relationships with other financial functions on campus including internal audit, grants and contracts, the budget office, Health Sciences and the Hospital Finance organizations. - Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related area preferred.
- Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Certification must be active and in good standing or have ability to recertify if hired.
- Experience in academic organizations and Academic Health Care is preferred.
- Minimum of ten (10) years in management experience in progressively more responsible financial and accounting positions, which includes a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience, or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
