UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAMPSHIRE Chief Financial Officer The University of New Hampshire Seeks Chief Financial Officer in Durham, New Hampshire ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAMPSHIRE Founded in 1866, the University of New Hampshire (UNH) the state’s public research university, provides comprehensive, high-quality undergraduate programs and graduate programs of distinction. Its primary purpose is learning with an 18:1 student-to-faculty ratio: students collaborating with faculty in teaching, research, creative expression and service. UNH has a national and international agenda and holds land-grant, sea-grant and space-grant charters. With its main campus in Durham and campuses in Manchester and in Concord (UNH School of Law), the university serves New Hampshire and the region through continuing education, cooperative extension, cultural outreach, economic development activities and applied research. UNH offers over 200 degree programs and has the following academic units: Peter T. Paul School of Business and Economics, Franklin Pierce School of Law, UNH Manchester, Carsey School of Public Policy; College of Engineering and Physical Sciences; College of Health and Human Services; College of Liberal Arts; College of Life Sciences and Agriculture; the Graduate School; and School of Marine Science and Ocean Engineering. UNH has a total of 1,450 faculty, two-thirds of which are full-time. UNH’s operating budget is $640 million, and its endowment (market value as of July 1, 2020) is over $235 Million. UNH has more than $120 million in funded external research that puts UNH in the top 15 percent of universities in the United States for research and funding. ABOUT THE ROLE We seek a transformational and strategic CFO to lead the university’s transition from a modified RCM model to a centralized financial model, and to lead one of UNH’s four strategic priorities, “Build Financial Strength”. The CFO reports to the President and serves as a key advisor to the President’s Executive team, President’s Leadership Committee, critical campus stakeholders, and serves as a member of the University System of New Hampshire’s (USNH) Finance Executive Council which provides financial leadership and oversight for the entire System that includes the three UNH campuses along with Granite State College, Keene State College, Plymouth State University. The CFO and his/her team will work in partnership with the USNH Vice Chancellor of Financial Affairs on systemwide financial planning to include such areas as multi-year financial projections, cash forecasting, and capital planning. The individual is responsible and accountable for all financial planning, financial analysis, and financial strategy implementation. The CFO directs the financial vision of the university in alignment with its mission and objectives, evaluating the university's financial performance with respect to long term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts. The ideal candidate will be inspiring and motivating with financial management operational and strategic expertise, a track record in change management, strong relationship building skills with the ability to lead by influence, and a commitment to diversity, inclusion, excellence and belonging.
