JOB SUMMARY

            The Accounting Manager directs, coordinates and serves as a primary supervisor for three accounting staff members who are responsible for Accounts Payable, Financial Reporting and Reconciliations.   The Accounting Manager will report to and work closely with the Controller in the analysis and reconciliation of accounts and the in the development of accounting policies, procedures and controls.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, general ledger, fixed assets, prepaids, financial aid reconciliations & financial reporting
• Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships
• Address performance issues and make recommendations for personnel action
• Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance
• Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles
• Manage monthly closing of financial records and posting of month end information; ensure accuracy of financial statements
• Partner with cross-functional teams on a regular basis to identify areas for improvement and solve problems
• Work with the Controller, CFO and other University departments on special projects as needed
