Global Online Academy (GOA), one of the world’s premier online learning organizations, seeks a strategic and collaborative leader to serve as its first Director of Finance (Director). GOA is a mission-driven non-profit organization committed to reimagining learning and empowering students and educators to thrive in a globally networked society. Founded in 2011 with ten member schools, today GOA is a 17-person virtual organization (staff work remotely from locations across the continental U.S.) that serves over 5000 students a year at just over 150 member schools across 31 states and 27 different countries. Over the past nine years, GOA has also trained educators in best practices for online learning with the goal of equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and disposition to be successful in high school, college, and beyond. GOA offers middle and high school students a wide range of unique online courses and the flexibility for those students to learn on their own time. Classes are taught by dedicated, expert teachers from member schools and provide collaborative online learning environments in which students can learn about relevant, real-world topics and have the opportunity to develop independent learning skills. Through GOA’s professional learning offerings, the organization provides a range of opportunities for educators to leverage cutting edge research, expert instruction, and practical strategies in their own classrooms and schools.
In this inaugural Director position, GOA seeks an accomplished finance professional with expertise in both big-picture strategy and on-the-ground operations to play a central role in ensuring the long-term growth and prosperity of the organization. The Director will provide strategic direction and a vision for aligning GOA’s financial model with its programmatic goals while also tending to the nuts and bolts of overseeing the organization’s day to day finances. The successful candidate will be expected to increase efficiencies, optimize institutional technology and databases, implement best practices, and produce financial models and projections for GOA’s expanding program offerings, all while ensuring that the financial health of the organization remains strong. The Director will also serve as a strategic partner to the Executive Director and Board of Directors, and will be a key member of the organization’s senior leadership team.
