The Executive Vice President and Treasurer (EVPT) is responsible for leading all of the administrative and financial functions at MIT. In collaboration with the president, the MIT Corporation, and members of MIT’s senior leadership team, the EVPT works to ensure that MIT’s financial, capital, and operational resources are optimally deployed in a manner that best supports the Institute’s academic mission of education and research.
The EVPT is responsible for financial strategy development, operations and capital budget planning, debt issuance, and the integrity of financial information; serves as the chief steward of MIT's financial assets and operating revenues and administers its capital plan; serves as an ex-officio member of the MIT Corporation, Corporation Development Committee, and the MIT Investment Management Company board; and provides forward-thinking operational direction, stewards administrative resources, and leads the senior administrative team in conducting internal operations.
Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred).
15 of related experience.
Experience successfully leading and directing operations in a higher education institution or other organization of similar complexity.
Experience directing or partnering with the heads of key administrative and operational departments.
Strong understanding of the interrelationships of administrative functions and their impact on overall Institute performance and success.
Experience working with board members on complex, high-level topics and issues.
An understanding of the current economic challenges facing higher education; and extensive knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Must be able to support, contribute to, and strengthen a vibrant, culturally diverse, and inclusive community; anticipate, deliver on, and exceed the operational expectations of senior officers/faculty/staff; introduce and drive administrative and operational innovation; and provide expert financial leadership and insight, help safeguard the control environment, and enhance MIT’s finance function.
