The Associate Director of Business Operations (ADBO) will be responsible for developing and implementing an operations and management strategy for the TMI. This includes fiscal planning, financial and business management, overseeing acquisition and maintenance of facilities and equipment, f, maintaining working relationships with the Veterinary Health System at CSU, and initial point of contact for HR related needs at the TMI. The ADBO will provide oversight of institute daily operations, personnel and activities, and with department and College Business Officers and Directors who oversee aspects of these specific operational areas to identify and execute appropriate initiatives and direction. Business Operations and Development will serve three TMI pillars: Education, Research, and Commercialization.
Master’s Degree in Business or Financial Management with demonstrated knowledge of cost accounting standards and start-up organization dynamics and requirements. Note: A Bachelor’s Degree in Business and/or Financial Management plus 3 years executive level operations management experience may substitute for the master’s degree.
A minimum of 6 years’ experience demonstrating adept financial acumen through excellent performance outcomes and/or increasing responsibility in a financial management role.
Demonstrated expertise in business plan development and service center cost recovery mechanisms
Excellent communication skills demonstrated performance in the concepts of teamwork collegiality, reliability, and experience interacting with diverse groups of people.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
Strong analytics and computer-based skills, including database management, troubleshooting, data mining/interpretation, experience and working knowledge of accounting and related information systems, as well as the ability to resolve complex problems
Demonstrated experience managing multiple tasks and deadlines and exercising appropriate independent judgment, while collaborating with multiple/diverse stakeholders, to achieve and deliver on the agreed-upon operational objectives.
Strong operational experience; ideally has worked in a management role for 5+ years in a large/complex organization or institution of higher education.
Experience managing human capital/personnel within a complex and highly diverse environment, as well as a high concentration of executive/professional level staff or doctorate level experts (e.g. faculty)
Experience as a leader and/or manager of a large team of professionals.
Experience in, or high-level understanding of, the scientific disciplines encompassed in the College and/or Translational Medicine Institute.
