Syracuse University seeks a highly strategic and results-focused executive to serve as the next Treasurer of an institution that is in the midst of unprecedented campus-wide momentum, pursuing bold goals and reaching for new heights. Syracuse University, founded in 1870, is a private research university that advances knowledge through 13 schools and colleges enrolling approximately 22,500 students. Annual operating revenues exceed $1 billion.
The Treasurer reports to the Senior Vice President/CFO and is an integral member of the University’s Business, Finance and Administrative Services Division leadership team. In addition to the standard responsibilities of the role, some of which include cash management, monitoring debt capacity and investments management, the Treasurer will engage in a number of strategic initiatives across the enterprise, in partnership with the executive leadership team, to position the institution for further growth and enhanced prominence.
The Treasurer will oversee all the treasury related activities, playing a large role in building out an integrated cash management function throughout the University, and a central role in the enhancement of cash flow planning and analysis. The Treasurer will oversee a team of approximately 30 including Bursar’s Office, Cash Management, Debt Management, Endowment and Investment Management.
The successful candidate will possess 15 or more years of overall experience, with the majority spent in a treasury related function. Demonstrated track record of outstanding accomplishments managing treasury organizations is a must in order to translate the vision/mission of the organization into actionable, quantitative plans; convey a sense of urgency, and drive issues to closure.
