The University of Iowa Office of the Controller is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to perform a broad range of accounting and financial analysis responsibilities to assure effective and compliant organizational/department/unit operations. This position will provide accurate and timely accounting information that is used to develop reports, conduct financial analysis and planning and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulations.
Job Duties Include:
Perform complex monthly reconciliations of the General Ledger to subsidiary ledgers. Investigate discrepancies (across the consolidated University) to determine appropriate corrections and work with others to resolve issues with reports and perform testing when report changes are made.
Assist with monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports
Prepare and analyze the annual, and ad-hoc bond segment financial statements. Play a lead role in annual bond audit
Assist in the year-end closing of accounts and preparation of consolidated University of Iowa audited financial report.
Develop financial reports from lead sheets and other sources to complete audit schedules, financial report footnotes and management discussion and analysis.
Conduct variance analysis of financial information.

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum three years accounting and/or financial analysis experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong problem solving skills
Knowledge of accounting system software and functionality
High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word
Certified Public Accountant
Master’s Degree in Business Administration
Advanced query and report development experience utilizing Microsoft Access
Experience with GASB or FASB Standards
Extensive experience in university accounting and financial reporting
Knowledge of/experience with financial cost accounting
