This position has two main elements Student accounts/bursar function of the University & Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis reporting.
This role is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the Student Accounts office and is responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to the administration of student accounts. This role ensures compliance with federal and state guidelines/regulations and stays current with changes as they occur.
This position is also responsible for administering the annual University-wide budget process, periodic year-end forecasting and monthly variance analysis reporting.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Assist in developing and delivering training to budget managers and provide direction & assistance to managers during the budget process
Work with HR to prepare the salary and benefits budget and upload to correct cost centers in the EHR
Assist the CFO with financial forecasting on an ongoing basis
Prepare reports analyzing variances between budget and actual financial results
Work with budget managers to understand variances and adjust forecasts accordingly
Manage the process of billing, collection and loan disbursement activities
Work with outside collections agencies concerning student account assignments, loan placements and implementing collection strategies
Maintain knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection laws and FERPA
Ensure the accuracy and data integrity of all student account data, performing audits as appropriate
Ensure that Federal, State and other reporting requirements are completed timely, including annual audits and other mandatory filings
Responsible for timeliness and accuracy of 1098-T forms.
Manage all aspects of the University's Federal Perkins Loan program compliance
Develop processes related to the assignment of accounts and the eventual liquidation of the portfolio
Ensure the timely and accurate recording of Perkins activity in the general ledger and on the annual FISAP
Serve as main contact with IT for all issues related to both the student accounts and budgeting module
Serve as the lead for all configuration and design issues related to both the bursar and budget functions the EHR
Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training, performance evaluation and professional development of the student accounts staff
Perform monthly account reconciliations as assigned
Assist the CFO with other analyses and projects as needed.
Bachelor's degree required. An Accounting major is not required, however significant formal training in accounting is required.
3-5 years management/supervisory experience required
5+ years experience working with student accounts in a higher education setting, knowledge of financial aid regulations, experience preparing budgets, forecasts and performing variance analysis.
