Under the general supervision of the Senior Budget Analyst, performs tasks that assist with the development and reporting of UCEAP's domestic and international operating budgets. UCEAP is a self-supporting program funded through student fees and donor contributions. The budgets for UCEAP's operations involve multiple fund sources, foreign currency exchange, and revenue contingent on student enrollment. Helps maintain UCEAP's financial planning and analysis system and utilizes data from multiple sources to aid with the preparation of UCEAP's budget vs. actual reporting. Reconciles UCEAP's budget to the general ledger, researches variances, and processes budget adjustments as needed. Helps manage the fund transfers for UCEAP's campus initiatives and grants and UC Faculty appointments. Supports the Senior Budget Analyst with the financial evaluation of UCEAP's program offerings and the setting of UCEAP fees. Works collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders including UC and international staff, faculty, and students. Executes special projects as needed.
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in related field and three (3) years of related budget development and financial analysis experience, or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training. Knowledge of accounting principles/regulations, and thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Experience identifying relevant insights and compiling analytical data on key financial trends for developing budget forecasts. Ability to independently gather required information to organize, and perform complex financial analysis assignments with a high degree of accuracy. Professional approach to work including a strong sense of responsibility for assigned duties; demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple assignments and overlapping deadlines; requires strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy and follow through. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate complex financial information to management in a clear and concise manner. Proficiency in MS Office; ability to learn and proficiently use other software programs, systems, and platforms as necessary. Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports; advanced knowledge/experience with Microsoft Excel. Ability to function independently and as a member of a team.
Desirable: Knowledge of UC/similar complex institutional policies and procedures; Experience working with complex, enterprise financial systems and reporting tools, including UC. International budget and finance experience, including working with foreign currencies. Knowledge of fund accounting. Proven experience managing complex budgets in a higher education environment.
