Job Summary: As part of the college’s leadership team, and an officer of the college, the Vice President for Finance and Administration serves as a member of the Senior Staff and on the President’s Council with specific responsibility for all areas relating to business operations and financial affairs. The VPFA shall be an accomplished administrator with the ability to be innovative in a changing higher educational and regulatory environment while moving forward the college’s strategic plan and vision for the future. Provides leadership and direction to staff within the Business Office, Human Resources, Campus Safety Department, Student Financial Services, and Maintenance Department. Responsible for all financial reporting – annual financial statements, IRS Form 990, quarterly statements for Board of Trustees, lenders and other reporting as required by governmental entities. Oversee/monitor performance of investment manager. Report composite investment portfolio performance to trustees on a quarterly basis. Prepare on an annual basis, for Board of Trustees approval, the following: operating budget, capital budget, long-term financial plan. Coordinate/oversee all capital projects from design through completion. Serve as college liaison to the Finance and Audit and Compliance committees of the Board of Trustees and such other ad hoc committees as appropriate. Administer the college’s risk management program. Oversee and administer the contracts of third-party vendors for the college’s auxiliary enterprises.
Requirements/Qualifications: Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Ability to provide leadership to a broad and diverse community. Ability to direct and supervise staff. Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, especially as they apply to not-for-profit educational institutions.
Demonstrable good decision-making skills. Demonstrable planning and prioritization skills. Strong problem solving and business analytic skills. Strong understanding of finance and economics. Maintain current knowledge of issues and trends in higher education. Strong computer skills, especially Excel and Word. Able to lead and manage multiple projects. Master’s degree in business/accounting field or CPA. 10 years of progressively increasing responsibility in business/accounting environment.
