The Division of Finance at Rensselaer enables and facilitates this ambitious mission within the clearly defined framework of the Rensselaer Plan 2024. The objectives of the Plan require maximum optimization and leveraging of Rensselaer’s financial assets.
To aide in the accomplishment of this mission, the Division of Finance seeks a Sr. Investment Analyst, who will report to the Vice President and CFO for the Institute. The Sr. Investment Analyst will support the VP in the management of Rensselaer’s investment program. The incumbent will work closely with the Assistant Vice President for Finance/Controller to ensure the appropriate reporting of investment activities. The Sr. Investment Analyst’s primary responsibilities include coordinating with external investment management advisors to ensure the timely and appropriate handling of all daily back office activities, such as fund communications, transaction monitoring and cash management. In addition, the incumbent will review external advisor performance reports, portfolio analysis, portfolio valuation and investments financial reporting.

Candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field, along with at least five (5) years of experience of experience providing back office support in an investment management setting. Experience must include work that is directly related to the primary responsibilities of the function. A thorough knowledge of accounting, financial analysis techniques, performance measurement, and modern portfolio theory is required, as are strong analytical and quantitative skills in order to analyze and evaluate investment manager performance. Candidates must be adept at personal computing skills and be able to use standard industry software. While not required, a Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field, is helpful. A CPA, CFA or other relevant professional certification is also a plus, along with university endowment and/or foundation experience, experience with Bloomberg, FactSet, and/or Private I, experience with alternative assets such as hedge funds and private equity, and knowledge of fair value accounting.
