As a key advisor to the Associate Director of Administration & when appropriate, the Departmental Director, the Business Officer is responsible for system-wide management & oversight of the CAHFS Business Office functions, including facilities, accounting (payables & receivables), client services (case reporting & fee schedules), travel, contracts/purchasing, & asset management. In addition, provides direct management of the Davis storeroom, reception & courier services. Act as a critical member of CAHFS' administrative team, providing technical expertise & leadership in CAHFS' strategic planning efforts, & exercises a high degree of autonomy & judgement in order to accomplish CAHFS' operational objectives.
Experience in the principles and practices of business management to effectively manage and oversee a complex administrative operation, including extensive knowledge of policies & procedures for purchasing, accounting, financial planning, contracts, fee/rate structures, & extramural funding in a government setting (UC preferred).
Supervisory experience & team building skills to effectively recruit; train; develop performance standards, measures, & set staff priorities; & evaluate & correct performance.
Experience & skills to analyze complex information or problems in an objective manner and derive logical conclusions to provide a sound basis for establishing priorities, selecting appropriate courses of action for pursuit or recommendations to others, and to resolve conflicts.
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with a wide variety of individuals, to include coworkers, clients of CAHFS, and individuals from other University units, government/outside agencies.
Skills to work independently with little or no direction & represent the department, School & University in a professional manner.
Strategic planning/analytical skills, both quantitative & qualitative, for the purposes of forecasting & developing objectives.
Experience in problem solving, anticipating & analyzing problems, devising & implementing changes & solutions.
Skills to pay attention to detail and recognize discrepancies, making appropriate and accurate corrections.
Skills to prepare written reports and recommendations, and skills to interpret similar reports prepared by others.

Experience implementing effective internal control policies & procedures.
Knowledge and experience using various UCD automated financial systems (e.g. DaFIS/KFS, Aggie Buy, Aggie Travel, etc.)
