Acts as University's Chief Accounting Officer and is responsible for ensuring that the University operates in a financially controlled and secure manner and for the day-to-day management and oversight of all University-wide accounting functions. Provides leadership to the University in interpreting financial policies, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all accounting records, setting the standards for the delivery of services to customers served by financial operations, and providing internal and external reports as required for the successful financial management of the University. Other duties as assigned JOB DUTIES:
35% - Essential - Management: Directs and leads the daily operations of the Controller's Office management and oversight for all University-wide accounting to include General Ledger, Financial Reporting, Tax, Payroll, Costing, Cash and Treasury, Grants and Contracts (Post Award) Administration and Student Financial Services by ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and reporting requirements of federal, state and local agencies.
25% - Essential - Reporting: Develops and implements University accounting and financial reporting systems and support processes to ensure integrity and accuracy in the preparation of financial reports for both internal and external customers. Develop and enforce the University's systems and procedures to support the preparation of annual financial statements and the University's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and standards.
20% - Essential - Systems Oversight: Directs and leads the integration of the University's Finance System with all financial operations. Actively analyzes the financial needs of the University through collaboration with the Budget, Human Resources, Financial Aid, Development, Facilities and Information Technology departments. Investigates and implements strategic options and initiatives to strengthen the University's financial functions to ensure efficient use of University resources while providing a high level of customer service.
10% - Essential - Compliance: Establishes financial policies, procedures and processes that support the financial and compliance integrity of the University. Analyzes and updates existing policies, procedures, programs, plans and systems to develop improvements in efficiency, effectiveness and productivity. Provides leadership in the interpretation of financial policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local laws and regulations.
10% - Essential - Communication & Support: Develops and maintains strong collegial relationships throughout the University and with state and national professional organizations and colleagues and understands how various stakeholders throughout the University value and use the services provided by the Controller's Office. Provides support to the Executive Vice President for Finance and Operations and Chief Financial Officer by preparing, analyzing and interpreting periodic financial reports for management information, control, financial planning and forecasting. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree - Business related field with multiple accounting courses.
Work Experience - 8 years experience directing professional accounting services, or Bachelor's Degree and 10 years experience directing accounting services. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Education Area - Accounting or related field.
Work Experience - Knowledge of state budgeting and state government fiscal accounting processes; PeopleSoft or other ERP experience; An understanding of GAAP, GAAS, GASB and FASB; Supervision experience of at minimum 5+ direct reports and responsibility for approximately 60+ indirect reports; Demonstrated record of progressively responsible finance, business and accounting experience, preferably in higher education; Ability to lead a diverse staff and promote service-oriented delivery of accounting services, analyze and interpret complex financial data and reports; Plan, organize, review and supervise the work of subordinates; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; Communicate effectively
