Iowa State University seeks an innovative, creative and collaborative leader to assist in transforming its financial service delivery. Iowa State University is implementing Workday, an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution. The first role for this highly visible position will be leading the creation of new Finance Service Centers (FSC) for the new finance delivery model that will effectively utilize the new ERP system in the areas of grants fiscal management, accounting journal entries, procurement and travel. The position will play a pivotal role in implementing the new delivery model, including hiring the appropriate team members, largely from current university employees.
This position will have a direct impact on the transformation of financial services, the provision of excellent customer services on campus, the development of redesigned service processes, standard operating procedures, and training materials for the FSCs. This role will be responsible for building a strong team culture that instills a sense of pride and motivation for its teams’ employees. Over time this role will evaluate customer feedback, service metrics, and ensure the overall strategy and design are continuously optimized for leveraging Workday and supporting the university.
The Associate Vice President will be a liaison and provide feedback between the senior leadership of the university and the Division of Operations and Finance, ensuring alignment with the financial needs of the university community. This position will also directly manage and provide other support services to the Division of Operations and Finance. This position will lead finance service delivery for the university through the Financial Service Centers, teams of specialists who support the organization. The success of the teams hinge on the AVP’s ability to listen, engage, and empower them. The teams will provide valuable front line advice and support to senior leaders, supervisors, and employees, which will require ongoing functional training and daily support. This position is responsible for the consistency and effectiveness of the finance service delivery teams and should be able to outline training and development plans, monitor performance, and find ways to challenge and engage the teams in the larger strategy.

Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of related experience OR Master’s degree and 8 years of related experience OR a Ph.D. and 5 years of related experience.
Experience working in a shared services environment
Demonstrated knowledge of large, complex organizations, such as public higher education institutions
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of audiences on a variety of issues
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire Finance professionals at every stage of development and help them establish career goals and develop skills and opportunities for growth in knowledge and experience.
