The Senior Associate - Healthcare (SAH) is part of the UCSF’s Audit & Advisory team providing an independent and objective assessment on the organization’s systems of controls and promoting concepts of internal control and operational process improvements that will assist University of California San Francisco (UCSF) personnel in the discharge of their administrative fiduciary responsibilities.
Under the direction of the Supervisor, the SAH is responsible for performing and planning various and diverse financial, operational and functional assurance, advisory and investigative reviews of UCSF Health including revenue cycle processes; professional and hospital billing and healthcare regulatory compliance.
Duties of the SAH include assessing organizational and operational risks for assigned review areas, designing and preparing audit programs for assigned projects, conducting fieldwork, preparing work papers, drafting reports, and following up on management corrective actions in accordance with professional auditing standards. While the SAH’s primary area of audit will be the UCSF Health; projects in other parts of the campus will be assigned.
AUDIT & ADVISORY SERVICES UCSF Audit & Advisory Services (A&AS) provides independent, objective assurance and advice that provides value added services toward reducing risk and improving operations. Services provided include assurance/compliance audits, advisory/consulting projects, and investigative reviews.
The scope of A&AS encompasses activities within the UCSF Healthcare Enterprise; Professional Schools, Institutes and Centers, and related academic units of the UCSF Campus; and Finance and Administrative Services.
Additionally, A&AS coordinates the activities of visiting external auditors; provides special studies and assessments as requested by management; serves as the coordination and triage point for all whistle blower complaints; and assists, as requested, the University’s financial auditors, PricewaterhouseCoopers, in performing the annual examination of the financial statements.

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Audit or related area and 3-5 years relevant experience and / or equivalent experience / training
Three to five years of substantial and recent healthcare audit experience
Thorough knowledge of the audit profession, theories and systems of control, and professional auditing standards
Broad knowledge of finance, accounting, business and systems operations
Ability to gather, organize and perform analysis for moderately complex audit assignments
Ability to work on mastering more advanced audit concepts and applications in the completion of assignments
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to present sensitive information with diplomacy and in a clear and concise manner
Ability to present to a wide variety of audiences, including senior management and external agencies
Obtained or working towards Professional auditing or accounting certification in one or more of the following: CIA, CPA, CISA CFE; and CHC
Specialized audit experience and skills in Investigation, IT, or Sponsored Research
Specialized expertise in enterprise software and relational databases. ACL, IDEA, and/or SQL knowledge and expertise in performing data analytics
