The Associate Vice President, University Controller and Chief Financial Compliance Officer reports to the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Financial Management Services directs and manages the financial, personnel, policies and operations of the units which include accounting, financial reporting, tax, chart of accounts management, cost analysis, cash control, payroll operations, customer service, training, financial systems administration and operations, application development and decision support, accounts payable, records management, non-student accounts receivable, auxiliary accounting, capital asset management, university collections and loan service
Primary Roles: As a key member of the VPCFO’s leadership team, the controller plays the following critical roles and support of key objectives:
Stewardship – Provide vigilance in the responsible planning and management of financial resources, managing related risk areas and preserving financial assets.
Strategy – Participate in influencing the future direction of the financial management of the university.
Catalyst – Drive execution of strategy and goals.
Internal controls – Ensure an appropriate internal control environment by fostering the highest financial integrity and accountability throughout the institution, facilitating timely and appropriate financial decisions, and developing, clarifying and strengthening financial policies, procedures, and processes.
Compliance – Establish systems and best practices that support the education and research missions while ensuring compliance with external laws and regulations and generally accepted accounting principles and standards.
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree, CPA certification, and fifteen years of accounting experience, including experience in a supervisory level.
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate and exchange information, a customer service orientation and ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals within a diverse environment. Strong organizational and multitasking skills including the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Master’s degree / MBA is preferred. Background in Higher Education is preferred.
