The University of Rhode Island is repositioning and streamlining the University’s administrative functions to support the University’s 21st century strategic academic goals. The Vice President for Administration and Finance at the University of Rhode Island is looking to hire a high energy, dynamic individual contributor with high-level analytic, presentation and interpersonal skills in support of this effort.
The Division of Administration and Finance comprises Facilities, Purchasing, Business Services, Public Safety, Controller’s Office, Budget Office and Human Resources. In addition to an operating budget supporting 425 employees, the Division develops and administers the University’s capital improvement and maintenance budgets, and oversees the operation of the basketball arena, the ice arena, transportation and a conference center.
The required and preferred experience and skills for the position of Assistant to the Vice President are outlined in the attached job description. The person in this position will work closely with the Vice President and participate in strategic and tactical discussions across the University as we determine how to deliver cost-effective customer-oriented services in support of the academic mission. This position will give you a big-picture view, unusual at this position level, of how universities function. You will be responsible for much of the analysis and modeling necessary to pinpoint opportunities and create action plans for change. If you have business or accounting experience, build dynamic multivariate Excel financial models for fun, systematically use project management tools and techniques in your work and are excited by the possibilities of data visualization, you should apply for this position.
