California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA), is seeking an Associate Vice President for Financial Services.

Under the general supervision of the Vice President for Administration and Chief Financial Officer, the Associate Vice President for Financial Services is charged with the responsibility of administering the University’s financial operation, safeguarding the University’s assets, ensuring the integrity of the University’s resources, and the effective utilization of these resources. This position shall be responsible for the following:
All financial services functions including Business Financial Services, Budget Office, Procurement and Support Services, Administrative Technology, and Student Financial Services.
Development and recommendation of long and short range administrative and financial plans for the University.
Leadership for the financial planning aspects of numerous facilities and capital planning initiatives.
Analyzing business practices and recommend actions to improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs.
Strategizing and planning to help assure the University attains its financial objectives.
Accounting services, budget review, audit support and financial and tax reporting for the University Auxiliary Services, the Cal State LA Foundation, the CSULA Alumni Association, the University-Student Union and the Associated Students, Inc.
Development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the financial integrity of all University financial resources.
Preparation of documents and responses for all external financial audits and, in consultation with University Internal Auditor, identification of significant risks.
Overseeing the preparation of financial reports and documents to internal and external entities, as required.
Coordinating with all major operating areas of the university to ensure enforcement of fiscal compliance regulations, laws, guidelines and Trustee policy.
Serving as Secretary/Treasurer of University Auxiliary Services Board and Cal State L.A. Foundation.
Participating on various University advisory committees.
Developing and implementing financial plans and management reports to facilitate decision-making at the policy level.
Integration of technology and automation into Financial Services units to enhance customer services and facilitate outcomes.
Overseeing Administrative Technology which provides technological support to the Divisions of Administration and Finance and University Advancements as well as several Auxiliaries on campus.
Working cooperatively with all organizations to ensure maximum benefits and financial returns to the University.
Acting on behalf of the Vice President for Administration & CFO in his/her absence.
Interacting with senior officers of the University with respect to financial matters.
As detailed in the Cal State LA Multi-hazard Emergency Plan, serving as the Finance Section Chief and overseeing all financial and cost analysis aspects of the incident.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field is required.
Master's degree in business or public administration, accounting or finance preferred.
Must have five years of progressively responsible management experience preferably in higher education or large, complex non-profits.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrated ability to use technology in the development of solutions to complex issues.
