Stevens Institute of Technology (Stevens) a dynamic private research university of excellence and innovation seeks a Vice President for Development & Alumni Engagement (VPDAE). The VPDAE will have passion for the mission of the university and possess a genuine interest and belief in the promise of Stevens.
Led by President Nariman Farvardin, with oversight by a distinguished Board of Trustees, Stevens is a vibrant and thriving community of renowned faculty, dedicated staff, talented students, and over 40,000 alumni. Stevens is executing a very thoughtful and ambitious strategy for development and growth. Vital to this strategy is ensuring that future generations of deserving students will have the facilities, programs, and people to guarantee them an exceptional educational experience. To propel this unprecedented growth, the ideal candidate will bring vision, imagination, energy and significant demonstrated experience in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and securing philanthropic support in an analytical metrics-driven environment.
The VPDAE will report to the President, serve as a valued member of the President’s Cabinet, comprised of 11 senior academic and administrative leaders and effectively manage the Division of Development & Alumni Engagement. The ideal candidate will bring innovative fundraising leadership, marked by a solid track record of increasing philanthropic support, the purposeful expansion and diversification of philanthropic revenue, extensive campaign and management experience, and success in soliciting transformational gifts, especially for endowment.
The selected candidate will continue to involve and engage alumni, strengthen the ties with the alumni community, and expand and diversify philanthropic revenue and further the culture of philanthropy across the university. The successful candidate will be an active member of the Alumni Board of Directors and continue to engage and enhance Stevens’ alumni experience.
The successful candidate will inspire staff through effective motivation, mentoring, and team building; possess the management acumen to leverage the team members’ existing capacity and strengthen performance; and effectively manage the comprehensive operation, while maintaining best practices, camaraderie, shared accountability and clearly defined goals.
Excellent communication skills, as well as the intellectual curiosity and capacity to elicit and quickly understand scientific and research concepts, and synthesize this information into an articulate and compelling case for support, are requisite.
