Reporting to the President, the VPFA serves as a key strategic advisor to the President and works collaboratively with him, the Board of Trustees and Committees, the senior leadership team (President's Cabinet), faculty, and staff to assure a successful and stable financial future for the College. The VPFA provides leadership, vision and proactive, integrated financial planning in the development of initiatives that will optimize resources in support of the College's mission and strategic priorities.
The VPFA's responsibilities include oversight of the business office (e.g. accounting, purchasing, and payroll), operations, debt and cash management, facilities, project management and construction, environmental health and safety, human resources, legal services and contracts, and risk management. The VPFA supports and staffs the Board of Trustees Audit, Finance Committees and Investment Sub-Committee, and has primary responsibility for the development and implementation of the College's annual operating budget of approximately $18 million.
The successful candidate will have a track record of creative problem solving and experience leading change with demonstrated success in a hands-on financial management approach to the challenges facing higher education today. He or she will be a superb communicator with exceptional analytical skills who works collaboratively with colleagues in a spirit of partnership and transparency to advance shared institutional goals. The new VPFA will understand shared governance and foster inclusive decision-making, best practice including attention to accreditation standards, student success, and a strong sense of community across the institution. The VPFA will achieve these outcomes working collaboratively to develop and manage budgetary processes and policies that encourage and ensure accountability and responsibility. The successful candidate will support and reflect the College's mission, have a strong commitment to access, affordability and diversity in all its forms, and will act as a role model to promote respect and inclusiveness in interactions at all levels across campus.
Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business or Finance. Minimum ten years experience with majority earned in financial positions in higher education. CPA credential advantageous
