The Budget and Financial Reporting Director is responsible for the development, implementation and management of the university’s annual operating budget, supervises and provides leadership for a medium sized professional and administrative support staff in the budget office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice President of Administration and Finance, this position oversees the planning, development, implementation, and management of the Arkansas Tech University's $169 million operating budget. In addition, the university's grant budgets are overseen by the staff to ensure grant compliance in pertinent federal, state, and local rules, policies, and regulations. The Budget Director, working with a team of up to five professional staff, drawing from extensive knowledge of best practices, proven leadership, and problem solving skills, will fully utilize the Enterprise Resource Planning system (Banner), and actively engage with campus financial managers to improve efficiencies in budget processes and reporting. In addition, the Budget Director will lead the timely development of the annual Board of Trustees approved budget submissions, all other university budget related reports and ad hoc requests to external entities. Utilizing sound operational and fiscal stewardship experience, this position will make recommendations and forecasts for institutional financial goals and policies, in support of the University's strategic priorities while maximizing the use of funds and ensuring overall operations are within budget The Budget Director will foster enhancements and expanded reporting of the financial system across campus in support of evidence based decision making and serves on various committees at the discretion of the Vice President of Administration and Finance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work under deadlines while providing service excellence, demonstrate leadership skills in leading a team of professionals, exhibit proficient computer skills, financial acumen and adoptions of best practices, excellent communication skills both verbal and written and ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and six years of progressive professional experience in financial, grant management and business settings within a college/university or comparable organization, including three years in a leadership role is required.
