The Budget and Financial Analysis office supports the University by maintaining and providing operating budget information and financial analysis to the campus and is currently recruiting for an Executive Director, Budget & Financial Analysis. The successful candidate will serve as a Budget Officer. Providing oversight for a wide range of activities, including financial analysis, forecasting, reporting and management of the operation budget process for the campus.
Serve as the principal contact for campus budget issues.
Oversee the preparation and implementation of the campus operating budget. Develops strong, collaborative relationships with administrators, faculty and staff, and communicates effectively regarding the financial health of the organization in the context of the operational and strategic priorities of the university.
Performs financial analyses in key operating revenue and expense areas to identify key drivers, trends, benchmarks, risks and opportunities, and recommends appropriate actions. Develops and presents financial reports, metrics and analyses to increase understanding and improve decision-making.
Develops and leads a strategic budget process that is holistic and transparent to meet the current and future needs of the University. Proactively works with department leaders to improve financial outcomes and works with leadership to provide budgetary and analytic support to optimize the deployment of resources.
Provide leadership, guidance and financial consulting to campus business operations, including business modeling, strategic planning and operational planning.
Provide guidance regarding the integration of improved technology to enhance quality and efficiency of budget and financial information.
Collaborate with Real Estate, Planning & Space Management, Facilities Management and Central Administration Support Services in preparing the capital budget, forecast, and managing cash flow.
Direct staff responses to external requests, surveys and reports as requested by UMB, University System of Maryland administration and other institutions/agencies.
Serve on campus steering committees; participates in campus and other system-wide or external units.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelors in Accounting, Business Administration, Business, Finance, or related field. Master’s in Business or related field is preferred.
Experience: Ten (10) years accounting, budgeting, auditing, assessment of Internal controls, or financial analysis experience required.
Supervisory: Five (5) years of experience at a management/leadership level.
Preferred candidate will have experience in accounting or finance with an institution of higher education is preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Financial Manager (CFM), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
