Job Purpose: Provide general management and direction to the operations of Auxiliary Services which include the contracted dining services, bookstores, catering providers, and child care services. Areas of management responsibility include strategic planning, sales, marketing, finances, facility maintenance, contract negotiation and compliance, event production, policy development, and capital improvements. Oversee the preparation of complex Request for Proposals (RPFs) for contracts. Responsible for setting employee and/or group goals, deciding on organizational structure to meet the goals, assessing employee and/or group performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.
Provide overall direction for the formulation of Auxiliary Services departments' strategic initiatives to enhance the quality of campus life through the delivery of quality products, programs, facilities, and services. Determine resources, monitor and direct progress toward the attainment of strategic initiatives.
Lead the management and staff of multiple departments including the GT Bookstore and GT Dining to achieve high standards of performance, service, and professionalism. Prioritize activities and lead a coordinated effort to achieve the mission and vision of Auxiliary Services. Provide performance management and evaluation.
Oversee operating budgets for Auxiliary Services departments and capital budgets for the Bookstore, Dining, and other contracted operations. Responsible for revenue generation to fulfill debt obligations and ensure future growth. Control expenses and develop new revenue streams as opportunities arise.
Manage, maintain and renew assigned facilities to ensure optimal capacity, utilization, and functionality.
Resolve complex departmental, customer, and contractual issues. Lead RFP initiatives to solicit and select outstanding auxiliary contractors. Involve higher authorities and legal counsel as required. Monitor and ensure contract compliance.
Determine, communicate, and administer departmental and campus policies.
Measure department performance and produce detailed reports and updates on progress toward organizational objectives.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Impact & Influence: This position interacts on a consistent basis with: Institute executives, department heads, faculty, students, alumni, visitors, contractors, tenant management and vendors. This position typically will advise and counsel: Institute executives, department heads, faculty, students, alumni, visitors, contractors, tenant management and vendors. This position will supervise: Auxiliary Services management and staff personnel.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Experience: Ten or more years of job related experience.
Skills: Expertise in management skills, setting priorities, planning, assessment, and coordination. Responsible managerial experience in retail operations. Expertise with facility operations, capital projects, student activities, service administration and staff supervision is required. Strong interpersonal, managerial, budgetary, organization, customer service, marketing, and communication skills. Diplomacy and ability to relate well with college students, faculty, staff, alumni, and retailers. High level of self-motivation and demonstrated capacity for independent judgment, planning, evaluation, and decision-making are all required qualifications.
